FG Bans Assemblies, Overcrowding, Visiting Days As Schools Resume On Monday 18.

The Federal Government, on Thursday, banned overcrowding and large gatherings such as assemblies and visiting days, as schools reopen on Monday.

It also put limitations to class sizes and hostel occupancy and asked the schools to ensure compulsory wearing of face masks by all students, teachers and workers, as well ensure temperature checks and put hand washing facilities in strategic locations in all schools

The government also asked the school authorities to ensure constant supply of water and sanitisers, and make available functional health clinics with facilities for isolation and transportation of suspected cases to medical facilities.

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, gave the conditions in a statement by the Director of Press in the Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Bem Goong.

According to him, the decision to maintain the resumption date is the aftermath of “extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders, including state governors, commissioners of education, proprietors and heads of institutions, staff unions and students.”

Adamu told parents and the respective institutions to ensure full compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

The statement read in part, “Sequel to the hint given during the press briefing on January 12, 2021 for the review of the proposed resumption date of January 18, 2021, the Federal Ministry of Education has undertaken a comprehensive appraisal of the situation.

“After extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, including state governors, commissioners of education, proprietors and heads of institutions, staff unions and students, the consensus of opinion is that the resumption date of January 18 should remain, while parents and respective institutions must ensure full compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

“These measures, which are to ensure safe reopening of schools for academic activities, will be subject to constant review as we urge teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to ensure strict compliance.”

When asked how the government intends to curtail further spread of the virus with the planned resumption, Adamu school authorities would be asked to ensure strict compliance with existing and fresh guidelines that would be released.

He added, “We shall be warning stakeholders, particularly school authorities to ensure strict compliance with protocols.

“For instance, we will have no choice than to enforce compulsory use of face masks by teachers and students.

“We will also make it clear that we shall be reviewing the situation from time to time after resumption with a view to taking necessary decisions.”

Recall that the United Nations Children’s Fund had called on governments across the world to spare no effort to keep schools open or prioritise them in reopening plans despite the increasing cases of COVID-19.

Drogba Separates From His Wife, Lalla Diakate, After 10 Years Of Marriage.

Drogba Separates From Wife After 10-Year Marriage

Chelsea and Cote d’Ivoire legend Didier Drogba has revealed his ten-year marriage with his Malian wife Lalla Diakate is over … after appearing in an intimate video in bed with a mystery woman.

Drogba, 42, met Diakate in the late 1990s in Paris and they married in 2011.

He has previously maintained a discreet private life as he tried to shield his loved ones from the limelight.

But he has been forced into making a statement confirming his relationship with Diakate was over after saucy images of him and an unknown woman set tongues wagging.

The photos and clips soon went viral on social media.

And they showed the bare-chested Blues idol in bed with a nearly-naked young woman.

In the film, which a representative claimed had been hacked, she playfully sinks her teeth into Drogba’s shoulder as he screams in pain.

He then speaks to her in French about being bitten, and appears to say: “She’s positive! She’ll infect me by biting me!”

That sparked headlines in his native West African homeland.

And it prompted him to break his silence and admit he and Mali-born Lalla have gone their separate ways.

Drogba wrote on Instagram: “I’m not in the habit of discussing my private life.

“But, because of speculation in the media today, I can confirm that sadly, after 20 years together, Lalla and I took the difficult decision to separate last year.

“We remain very close, and our main priorities have been to protect our children and our family’s private life.

“May God bless you.”

Drogba enjoyed two spells at Chelsea, first arriving at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho in 2004 and embarking on an epic eight-year spell in the capital.

He returned in 2014 for a year-long stint and helped to take his tally to 104 goals in 254 top-flight matches for the club.

Drogba also won a host honours at Stamford Bridge, including four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League in 2012.

January 18 School Resumption Date Stands – Ministry Of Education.

The federal government says the January 18, 2021 resumption date for schools stands.

According to Ben Goong, director, press and public relations of the federal ministry of education, the decision not to alter the date was taken after wide consultation.

Adamu Adamu, minister of education, had earlier said the date might be reviewed as a result of the spike in COVID-19 cases.

But in a statement on Thursday, Goong said schools have been directed to reopen on Monday under strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols to avoid spread of the virus.

“Sequel to the hint given during the press 12 January 2021 for the review of the proposed resumption date of 18th January 2021, the Federal Ministry of Education has undertaken a comprehensive appraisal of the situation,” the statement read.

“After extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, including State Governors, Commissioners of Education, Proprietors and heads of institutions, staff unions and students, the consensus of opinion is that the resumption date of 18th January should remain, while parents and respective institutions must ensure full compliance with COVID-19 protocols including:-

Donald Trump Impeachment Resolution: Full Text.

Resolution

Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Resolved, That Donald John Trump, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors and that the following article of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:

Article of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, against Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Article 1: Incitement of insurrection

The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives “shall have the sole Power of Impeachment” and that the President “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment, for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” Further, section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits any person who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the United States from “hold[ing] and office … under the United States.’ In his conduct while President of the United States – and in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, provide, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed – Donald John Trump engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by inciting violence against the Government of the United States, in that:

On January 6, 2021, pursuant to the 12th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the Vice President of the United States, the House of Representatives, and the Senate met at the United States Capitol for a Joint Session of Congress to count the votes of the Electoral College.

In the months preceding the Joint Session, President Trump repeatedly issued false statements asserting that the Presidential election results were the product of widespread fraud and should not be accepted by the American people or certified by State or Federal officials.

Shortly before the Joint Session commenced, President Trump, addressed a crowd at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. There, he reiterated false claims that “we won this election, and we won it by a landslide.” He also willfully made statements that, in context, encouraged – and foreseeably resulted in – lawless action at the Capitol, such as: “if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country any more.”

Thus incited by President Trump, members of the crowd he had addressed, in an attempt to, among other objectives, interfere with the Joint Session’s solemn constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 Presidential election, unlawfully breached and vandalized the Capitol, injured and killed law enforcement personnel, menaced Members of Congress, the Vice President, and Congressional personnel, and engaged in other violent, deadly, destructive and seditious acts.

resident Trump’s conduct on January 6, 2021, followed his prior efforts to subvert and obstruct the certification of the results of the 2020 Presidential election. Those prior efforts included a phone call on January 2, 2021, during which President Trump urged the secretary of state of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger, to “find” enough votes to overturn the Georgia Presidential election results and threatened Secretary Raffensperger if he failed to do so.

In all this, President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of Government. He threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a coequal branch of Government. He thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security, democracy, and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law. Donald John Trump thus warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

Confusion As Bayelsa Girl Child Gets Two ‘faces’ Nengi And Ebizi.

On Monday, Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa, announced the appointment of Ebizi Blessing Eradiri as the new face of Bayelsa girl child.

This came a few weeks after Nengi Rebecca Hampson, a former housemate of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality TV show, was appointed in the same capacity.

The appointment had initially stirred confusion, with many news platforms reporting that she has replaced Nengi as the face of Bayelsa girl child.

Daniel Alabrah, the chief press secretary to the state governor, however, clarified that the reality star has not been removed or replaced.

According to him, Nengi and Eradiri are to work together in promoting the girl child in the state.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the reality star also congratulated Eradiri while promising to work together with the law graduate for “a better welfare for the girl child”.

“Congratulations to Ebizi Eradiri. It’s amazing how you were able to pull that through!” Nengi wrote on Twitter.

“Special thanks to my Governor for also finding her worthy for the honour. It is without a doubt that we will both work together to see how we can front for better welfare for the Girl child.”

Nengi had been appointed in the capacity by Diri back in November 2020.

This had followed after she was named a senior special assistant (SSA) on girl child development to the state governor.

The reality star’s appointment however sparked controversy on social media, with some users tackling the governor over the yardstick used for selection.
